Sommer: Conference weekend with Harling/boat fishing for salmon

Day 1-Friday
Arrival at Kiruna airport at mid-Friday with the possibility of transfer between Kiruna and Lainio.

Due to the fact that Lainio does not have a convenience store, you will have the chance to shop in Kiruna.  Upon arrival in Lainio, dinner consisting of local delicacies or according to wish will be served.  A round of fishing on Friday evening will be completed with a visit to the sauna and the traditional act of taking a ‘fika’.

Day 2- Saturday
A peaceful morning with a steady breakfast. Time will be set aside for the conference, and the afternoon will be spent by the river or in the meeting hall.  Dinner will be served at Neitigården.  Fishing on Saturday evening-the salmon can be tricky, so we might be fishing late into the midnight sun’s glow.  Sauna and relaxation in front the fireplace will bring the day to a close.

Day 3-Sunday
Steady breakfast, alternatively brunch will be served followed by a departure to Kiruna Airport.  Come again!

Winter: Snowmobile safari and a visit to the Ice Hotel

Day 1
A trip to the Jukkasjärvi Ice Hotel with lunch at the local tavern awaits you. Thereafter, the journey continues to the roads end, Lainio.  Dinner with local delicacies will be served upon arrival.

Day 2
The snowmobiles depart in the morning to the Ruomusjärvi Lake.  By the lake we will set up a ‘Lavo’ (a tent with a heater) where we will spend the night.  During the day we will go icefishing and demonstrate old fishing techniques.  Lunch and dinner will be prepared on an open fire where hopefully fish will be served.

Day 3
We will have breakfast by the lake.  Those who wish to make the final catch of fish will have a chance to do so.  We will then dismantle the tents, pack up and take the snowmobiles back to Lainio.  When we arrive the wood lit sauna will be awaiting us.  We will then prepare dinner together.

Day 4
We will start with a 30 km-long snowmobile tour to the Sami village of Viikusjärvi.  There we will get the chance to experience the daily life of the Sami and try traditional Sami food.  Dinner and sauna will be prepared for your arrival to Lainio.

Day 5
A relaxing morning with a big breakfast. We hope to see you soon again!
